A Message from Dr. Aminta H. Breaux, President

I am pleased to share the good news that Bowie State University has risen to #11 in the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges ranking of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This climb from the rank of 16 last year also solidifies our place among the Top 10 public HBCUs.

Bowie State University is on the move. This new recognition reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of faculty, staff and the entire campus community. Our ongoing efforts to enhance academic and financial resources that support student success make a difference for students and families.

BSU also ranked 54 for social mobility in the Regional Universities (north) category recognizing our success in graduating students who are the recipients of federally funded Pell Grants.

As we continue to focus on our institutional priorities of academic excellence, student success and long-term viability of the university, I expect even greater achievements to come.

Thank you to everyone who works hard every day for Bowie State University!
