Joseph Michael “Joe” Green, Ph.D.

Joseph Michael “Joe” Green, Ph.D., is a teacher, advisor, grant writer, and higher education administrator. Dr. Green’s external national service includes serving as a member for the Board of Trustees for the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, Scholarship America. The Goldwater Scholarship Foundation is one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the United States, which seeks to support exceptional students with the promise of becoming the Nation’s next generation of leaders in research and education.

Dr. Green is a member of the board of directors for Bowie State University’s Foundation. Joseph completed his undergraduate studies at Bowie State University, Bowie Maryland, attended graduate school at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, South Dakota, and he earned a doctoral degree in Political Science with focus in Public Administration and America Government from Howard University in Washington DC. Dr. Green is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. Green currently serves as the Vice President for Student Development and Success and Dean of the University College at Virginia Union University (VUU).Vice President Green is responsible for the strategic leadership for the Division of Student Development and Success, the division includes Student Affairs: Office of the Dean of Students, Dean of the University Chapel, and Dean of the University College. Previously, Dr. Green served as Dean of the University College at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). As Dean of the University College, Dr. Green managed all operations for the University College, which included oversight of Academic Coaching & Advising, Supplemental and Developmental Learning, Student-Athlete Academic Support, Student Academic Success, and Training and Development. Prior to his tenure at NCCU, Dr. Green worked as the Executive Director for Retention, Progression, and Completion, a Graduate Faculty Member, and head of the Student Success Center in the Division of Academic Affairs, at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), a significant minority-serving University.
